A key trend to resurface in 2021, continuing into 2022 and with no sign of slowing down is the high waisted pleated trouser. We’re seeing the chic and comfortable pant option be the go-to trouser of choice for our favourite influencers and love that this style is both equally workwear approved as well as being easily incorporated into our out of office hours.
Here are our top 5 tips on how to style and wear the high waisted pleated trouser.
1. Go for a looser fit.
If between sizes, when shopping for pleated trousers it's best to go for the looser, larger size to avoid a tight fit that can cause the pleats to pull apart. You want the pleats to fall flat.
2. Accessorise with a belt.
A belt tidies up the look and is almost an essential when styling this type of pant. Look for a classic belt buckle so as not to add too much competing detail to the pleats.
3. Style with a fitted top
As your pleated pants are a more relaxed, loose style, to balance out your outfit, look to style them back with a more fitted top. We love a relaxed pleated trouser with a classic tank, fitted t-shirt or a long sleeve knit tucked in.
4. Always show off the waist band and pleats
The detail of the high waist pleated trouser should be seen and waist defined. Go for a full tuck or a half tuck to show the front of the waist and pleats.
