5 Essential Items
in our Winter 2021 Capsule Wardrobe
By Sara Crampton
You will have heard us talk about a capsule wardrobe before, getting down to detail about how to build a capsule wardrobe and the benefits of how they can even improve your productivity. It’s about creating a base to work with and establishing go-to foundation pieces that act as building blocks for the rest of your wardrobe.
Depending on the season and what’s going on in your life (or the world), your capsule wardrobe can change, and what we rely on will be slightly different from other times in the year.
So here is our list of 5 essential items in our Winter 2021 Capsule Wardrobe.
1. Trench or coat
This is a must have for us as we love how a trench or coat can elevate your most basic outfit. You can throw this over something more sophisticated, or use it to raise the bar of your leisurewear, you do you.
They tend to be a little more of an investment piece and we encourage you to look for well made items in this category rather than a cheap thrill. Coats and jackets are pieces we tend to hold onto the longest, so you want to make sure you look after your investment piece to make sure it lasts the distance.
2. Jeans
Jeans are a big part of our essential winter wardrobe and to be honest we’re finding it difficult these days to play favourites between the three key denim colours, classic blue, black and white. All three are essential in our eyes and are a must have all year round.
3. Long sleeve basic tops
We love having multiple long sleeve options in our wardrobe, they’re perfect for layering and wearing on their own. As one of our key tips in the art of layering, choosing a base you love is important for when weather heats up unexpectedly and you need to remove some layers. You want to make sure your base layer works on its own so you don’t have to sweat it out for fear of showing what’s underneath.
4. Elevated Accessories
We’ve really come to depend on accessories to lift our mood and set the tone for our day. Just like how some love the transformation of a beauty look, we find an elevated accessory sets us up for the day. A great tool to use for working at home and in our opinion easier to execute than wearing a blazer or heels to put us in the mood.
5. Cosy Knitwear
We all could use a hug right now and our super soft knitwear is the feel good option we’re being drawn to. Look for knitwear in interesting silhouettes and detailing, but ultimately check the fabrication and look for natural materials you know are soft and kind to the skin.
